Go D.J!!! Introducing Ry Ry

I am extremely excited about the information I am releasing in today's blog for a number of reasons. First off because auntie Maui love the kids. Secondly because I Salute and respect good parenting. Lastly because Albany Fashion Week has a new edition to the family.  I recently worked with Ms. Sharmekia Brooks on the set of a photo shoot, during the shoot we chatted back and forth.  Being the proud mother's that we are, we talked about our children and their accomplishments.Like myself, Sharmekia is a single mother but that has never hindered her from being the best mom and giving her daughter the roots and wings she needs to exceed life's expectations. As soon as she told me about the things her daughter was doing,my wheels started turning.  I begin talking to Charlie Hill about the direction that she was going in for AFW2K13's kid show. Per conversations with both Charlie and Sharmekia, I am honored to present to you, the offical
D.J. of AFW2K13's kid show, D.J. Ry Ry!!!

Miss Ryann Woodley
(D.J. Ry Ry) is a 10 year old rising star, who wants to become a famous D.J like the legendary Spinderella. This talented preteen became interested in being a disc jockey during a party in honor of her Grandmother, and has been on the one's and two's every since. In a short time,this Princess has made a name for herself by displaying her skills at different events.  Now don't get it twisted,mixing and scratching is the name of the game but there is so much more to this cutie.
D.J. Ry Ry maintains good grades and is also a star basketball player. Her career goals range from being a professional basketball player to a F.B.I agent. All I know is that the world better get ready for
D.J. Ry Ry because no matter what path she takes,  she is going to GREAT!!!

Rihanna Hearts by M.A.C

Although I normally talk makeup on Monday,  I just couldn't wait to share this bit of information.  It has been confirmed by two reliable sources that M.A.C will soon be releasing a four collection series called Rihanna heart.  Yes Riri has officially arrived;  an album that is constantly spinning,  a fashion line with River Island and now a deal with M.A.C. our girl really is balling out!

The first release from this line which Rihanna is quoted as calling"a no brainer" is set to launch a lipstick that is simular to our beloved Ruby Woo called Riri Woo.  This release will be around the same time as the kick off of the "DIAMONDS" tour, which is the beginning of May 2013.  Riri's Woo is said to be a rich red with a blue undertone and matte finish.  To me it looks like an old school red or what we now consider a vamp color. This Lippie will be re-released with each new collection.  The president of Estee Lauder, M.A.C's parent company said they aren't dating Riri but building a relationship.   All of the casing will include the pop Princess's signature and the collections will debut summer,  fall and even during the holiday.  I am personally super excited about this and have every intention of making several purchases. Grown Folks Society/ All Black Soirée

Want to meet, mix and mingle with the creative team behind AFW? You want to party with AFW's models, designer and photographers? Well,  Friday Feb. 22, 2013 is an opportunity to do just that.  The Grown Folks Society is hosting an ALL BLACK SOIRÉE/ BIRTHDAY BASH for Charlie Hill (AFW creator, model, designer and model coach), Willie Byrd( A Grown Folks Society creator and Omega Man) and Jessica Dorsey(model and dazzeling Diva of Delta Sigma Theta). This event like any other GFS event will give you the comfort of a mature party atmosphere equip with a live band and a disc jockey. GFS provides mature,  professional adults the opportunity to party without the drama that accompanies partying with the younger crowd. So put on your best dancing shoes and come out to party with the grown folks.

The event will take place in Albany Georgia at the Nelson/Tift building.   The physical address is 226 West Broad ave.  Tickets for this event are on sale now but they are going fast.  There are also hotel accommodations for those who need them. I will be providing links for both below.

ALBANY FASHION WEEK MODEL CALL

 Albany Fashion Week will be hosting two model calls in preparation for this year's show. The time and date for the first model call is set for Sunday April 7, 2013 at 4p.m. The event will be held at L' Performing Arts Studio which is located in the Friendship Plaza. The physical address is 707 W. Broad Ave Albany, Ga. Please read this entire post for all of the essential details and information regarding the model call.

Please be advised that there is a $15 application fee that must be paid in order for you to participate(children are excluded). You have the option of submitting your application and fee on the AFW website prior to the model call.

Make sure that your appearance is the portrait of some one who has style. This is simular to a job interview, you have to look the part.

Ladies make sure that you wear heels. Any one can walk in flats,  we need models who are capable of strutting in heels that are at least 3 inches.

MOST OF ALL,  PLEASE BE ON TIME!!!!! There is only room for a certain number of models in each show.  You don't want to miss an opportunity to be a part of something great by being tardy for the party. My advice to you would be to be early so that you can check in and get ready to werk!!

AFW 2K12 "Dangerous Curves"

Woman of God, single mother, retail specialist, fashion show coordinator, modeling coach, makeup artist and model; these are all nouns that describe India Castleberry.  India was a model in Albany Fashion Week 2K12 "Dangerous Curves" Show. Although last year was AFW's premier, the 28 year old curvy cutie is no stranger to the runway. She has been featured in a number of shows including a popular Christian show, "Christ Rocks".  During last years AFW "Dangerous Curves" Show many designers, including myself were eager to work with her and she obliged everyone.  She strutted her curves up and down the runway one scene after another with the bold, confidence that makes her the epitome of P.H.A.T GIRL FRESH. There are those who my look at this kind spirited individual and not see a full figured woman. However, they can't deny her captivating curves or her ability to WERK! Whether it is modeling, coordinating shows, training models or beating faces.... "FASHION LIVES", in India A. Castleberry!!!

The P.H.A.T girls guide to FRESH... Skin care

A lot of people ask about and compliment my skin. They want to know how I maintenance it and what products I use. I am often told how nice and clear it is, and they are correct.Honestly, most of it is genetics, I can't say that I faithfully use anything other than water. I do use Ambi's Coco butter soap to wash my face when I have worn makeup, sometimes. I have only had acne once that I can recall. Well, I have only had serious acne once, now I will have a pimple here or there but never any thing major. My mom and my grandma have beautiful dark skin, and I can't ever remember seeing either of them with pimples. Another thing is my food intake, there are certain things I don't eat. The one major acne outbreak I had, got me a trip to the dermatologist. The dermatologist told me to stay away from certain food( chocolate and soda), and I did just that. I was 16 years old then but that has stayed with me to this day. Call me crazy, maybe even vain but I had no desire to be walking around looking like a spotted owl. Since I have been a makeup artist, I have felt obligated to become educated on skin. I have learned about and tested different products so that I can effectively recommend products to my clients. It is important to protect your skin no matter what product you use because if you don't look good..... I don't look good.

One natural mixture that I love and use one a week is a combination of lemon, honey and baking soda. The baking soda cleanses and exfoliates. The honey softens and moisturizes. The lemon fades blemishes and evens out the completion. I add a tablespoon of honey and a tablespoon of baking soda to a bowl and mix it into a paste.  I then cut a lemon in half, squeeze it a little and then rub it in the honey/baking soda paste. After that I rub it on my face, using all of the paste and using the lemon like a face cloth. I allow it to stay on my face about 2 minutes and than I rinse it with cold water. You will be amazed by the results.

ALBANY FASHION WEEK UPDATE

The creators of AFW 2K13 have been working on the brand since the end of the last event.  Last year laid down a strong foundation, which means that this years is guaranteed to be EPIC!  The wheels of production have officially started turning and from now until the last light goes out you can expect nothing but the best.   In addition to all of the traditional components of AFW, the finale event will be a huge hair show and hair battle.  This event will be held on Sunday September 23, 2013.  I am personally excited about this event because in my opinion hair and makeup play a huge role in fashion. They are to fashion, as jewelry  is to clothing. Honestly, what good is a fly outfit when your hair is looking bad? Although we know that this is not the case with any of you we want to make sure you are able to see,appreciate and Learn what is new in hair and where you can go to get the look that you want.
