SPOKEN CURVES!!

HAUTECORE LIPSTICK

It is no secret that I am a M.A.C girl, I love their lippies especially the mattes.  I am extremely excited about the black Friday release of Hautecore lipstick.  I have been rocking the black lippies for a while, so for M.A.C to now introduce a black lippie that is a matte too……. I GOTTA HAVE IT!!!!  I am not sure the pro discount will apply to the lippie but either was I will be engulfed in the madness of trying to order mine.  It will be available online at 12 midnight on black Friday.  For all of you fellow M.A.C girls, you already know that it will be a fight to get it.  However, keep clam…. Reality star Deelishis has become notoriously knew for her amazing curves and the fact that she actually kissed Flava Flav(throwing up in my mouth).  Although it is no secret that she is caked up, lately she has been receiving a lot of criticism.  Many of her followers on IG are saying that the bootilicious beauty has been photo shopping her pictures.  Honestly, until I started reading the comments, I never even thought for a second that she would be doing such a thing.  I guess she finally got tired of her assets being questioned, so she posted a video that should silence the haters.  #PHATGIRLFRESH

ROCK N ROSESE HAIR AND FASHION SHOW

Sherrie Walters-Aaron and the Cover Me Gorgeous team hosted a hair and fashion show in Columbus Georgia on Sunday, November 17, 2013.  I must admit, I was not sure what to expect because I have attended quit a few shows and some of them were garbage.  Maybe garbage is too harsh of a word but it is exactly what I mean.  LOL!!!!!!

When I arrived at the venue, the setup was great!!!  Things looked very nice and classy.  The V.I.P area was actually a nice exclusive setup with labeled tables and gift bags.  The runway was long and elevated so that the general admission audience was able to enjoy the show as well.  The vendors were aligned so that as you entered you had to pass them which is extremely important.  Another plus was that the show actually started on time, which is very rare.

Although I think that the host (rapper Rasheeda) and her co host could have done a better job of keeping the momentum going, the D.J was the bomb.com.  I don’t know if he was given a playlist but he kept the energy high.   Whoever was in charge of the show’s order did a good job of spacing things so that the experience was enjoyable.  The fashions were okay, but I must admit I expected a little more from Columbus.  What I loved most was the performance by songbird Tocarra and the Cover Me Gorgeous Curves segment.  Before the scene was introduced, poet Grande blessed the crowd with a poem that celebrated the beauty of PHAT GIRLS.  I LOVED IT!!!!!  This is something I have been trying to incorporate into a show for the longest time.  From the time Grande walked off the stage the energy was high and I was pleased to see one of the Faces of Fresh, Erica Elise WERKING!!!! 

During her closing remarks, I recall Sherrie saying that this was her first event.  That was a surprise to me because she did something that a lot of fashion show vets can’t do.  She put on a successful show without incident and it was standing room only.  She also announced that she will be having another event in April.  I am excited because I think that I am going to inquire about having PHAT GIRL FRESH be a part of the event.  HATS OFF TO SHERRIE WALTERS-AARON, YOU ROCKED!!!!!  TO VIEW MORE PHOTOS FROM THE EVENT CLICK THE LINK BELOW

Richard Roundtree

“Shaft” star Richard Roundtree was shocked when he was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1993. For years after his diagnosis and treatment for breast cancer, Roundtree remained quiet about his illness. Five years later he revealed his battle with cancer at a celebrity golf tournament to raise money for a mobile breast cancer diagnostic unit.

Hoda Kotb

“Today” show host Hoda Kotb underwent a mastectomy and reconstructive breast surgery in 2007. Her story was documented on the “Today” show and she has since become an advocate for breast cancer awareness.

WANDA SYKES

Comedian Wanda Sykes was diagnosed with ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) in 2011. Even though DCIS is a non-invasive form of breast cancer, Sykes decided to have a bilateral mastectomy in order to eliminate her chances of getting breast cancer. “I was very, very lucky, because DCIS is basically stage zero cancer.”

Robin Roberts (diagnosed 2007 at 46)

Good Morning America anchor Robin Roberts had made a name for herself interviewing A-list athletes, actors, and other newsworthy personalities, but on July 31, 2007, she turned the camera on herself to announce she'd been diagnosed with breast cancer. “I did a INVALID ARTICLE ID and found something that women everywhere fear: I found a lump,” she said in a message posted online the day of her surgery. Roberts completed eight chemotherapy treatments, followed by radiation. In 2012, she underwent a bone marrow transplant for MDS, or myelodysplastic syndrome.

Kylie Minogue (diagnosed 2005 at 36)

A misdiagnosis almost lost Australian pop star Kylie Minogue her chance to fight—and defeat—breast cancer. It wasn’t until she decided to go in for a second round of tests that doctors found the lump in her left breast. A partialmastectomy, chemotherapy, and radiation followed. The singer has emerged from her ordeal with a plea that women should trust their gut more when they go to the doctor. “Just because someone is in a white coat and using big medical instruments doesn’t necessarily mean they’re right,” she told Ellen DeGeneres in 2007.

Edie Falco (diagnosed 2003 at 40)

When Sopranos star Edie Falco was diagnosed with breast cancer, she kept it almost completely secret; she barely told a soul on the set of the six-season HBO hit series on which she played mob wife Carmela Soprano. Falco quietly went into treatment and emerged cancer-free—and with shorter hair—in 2004. She says she chose to stay mum because she didn’t want any fuss or pity. “It was very important for me to keep my diagnosis under the radar...because well-meaning people would have driven me crazy asking, ‘How are you feeling?’” Falco told Health. Instead, she "bucked up, put on my Carmela fingernails, and was ready to work.”

Sheryl Crow (diagnosed 2006 at 44)

“I am a walking advertisement for early detection,” Sheryl Crow said in October 2006 about catching suspicious calcifications in both of her breasts on a routine mammogram. The rocker immediately postponed a tour, went into surgery, and had seven weeks of INVALID ARTICLE ID, supplemented with acupuncture and herbal teas. Crow—whose engagement to cyclist Lance Armstrong ended around the time she was diagnosed—was able to skipchemotherapy because her cancer was caught so early. In March 2007, Crow (who has no close family history of breast cancer) petitioned Congress to fund research into possible links between breast cancer and environmental factors.

Cynthia Nixon (diagnosed 2006 at 40)

 Sex and the City star Cynthia Nixon was hesitant to reveal that a cancerous tumor had been discovered in her right breast during a routine mammogram. Nixon, best known for playing the responsible Miranda Hobbes, didn't want her condition to become public during her treatment. “I didn’t want paparazzi at the hospital, that kind of thing,” Nixon told the New York Daily News after treating her cancer with alumpectomy and radiation. But Nixon, whose mother also survived breast cancer, decided to tell her story when she realized it might serve as an inspiration for other women at risk.

Monochrome

One fashion trend that has trasitioned into fall is the monochrome look. This look consist of a black and white color scheme, some times accessorized with a hint of gold. It has been hot on the runways this year, in the shows of several big name design houses. Most of the monochrome shown on the runway includes patterns. However, feel free to add your own little spin to it. Below you will if are examples of the monochrome looks, one which is my interruption. 

Must have fall lippies

Riri woo(white shirt) and Talk that Talk(leopard shirt) both from M.A.C Riri hearts collection. Both are retro mattes and both are must haves for the fall. Some people aren't fans of mattes because they are so dry but I love them. If you maintain your lips moisture,  they are not that bad and the look they give you is AMAZING!

FRESH 4 A CURE

Phat Girl Fresh partnered with Kawambee Dorsey a very talented makeup artist and Todra Mcghee a highly skilled hair stylist, for the “FRESH 4 A CURE” initiative.  The “Fresh 4 A Cure” initiative is a way to honor women who are living with or through illnesses such as breast cancer and lupus.  On a personal note I know that breast cancer is a horrible disease that has the potential to reduce you to nothing. From losing hair to nausea and fatigue, many women get lost in the illness.  Our goal is to do things to give them a little uplift, in spite of their situation.  Today, we had the pleasure of giving one deserving survivor a fresh look and a plenty of laughs.  I know that she felt that we were blessing her but in all honesty, being in her presence was a blessing to us.   With a smile as radiant as the sun, a testimony of unwavering faith, it is without question that she is, PHAT GIRL FRESH!!!

Parthenia Starling- Williams is a wife, a mother, a sister, a friend but most of all she is a child of God…….. And SHE IS A SURVIVOR!  At the age of 40, Parthenia was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer.  Despite her diagnoses, she continued to trust God and remain positive.  In the midst of her storm, Parthenia has managed to be a source of positive energy for many women who share her struggle.  She is quick to admit that she had her down moments where she was depressed and discouraged but her trust in God always brought her back to that place of hope and faith.  She says that although it is strange, having cancer taught her to appreciate greater things such as friends, family and life. At the age of 42, Parthenia is newly married and very optimistic about life and all that it holds for her.  She is proof that a positive attitude can brighten any dark situation.

It was an honor to have been able to do something to brighten Parthenia’s day.  She received a haircut, color and curl from Todra, professional makeup from Kawambee and a gift bag loaded with goodies from Phat Girl Fresh. This is only a small token for being a resource of knowledge, courage, faith and hope.

Phat Girl Friday......... Elise Micomyiza

Well as you all know today is Phat Girl Friday.  Although I have had a trying week and a busy day, here I am.  I have to tell you, initially I was going to write and feature someone else but evidently God had other plans.  Now I don’t claim to be the Holiest person but I know and love God.  I know that he has shown me far more favor then I deserve.  Last night was no different.  I received an email from a young lady named Elise Micomyiza, and after reading the message, I was in tears but empowered all at the same time.  I wasn't sure what she wanted me to do with it or why she had chosen to share it with me but I am grateful.  I have long known exactly what my assignment from God was, and every day, my desire is to operate in that.  Which is why is automatically knew that Elise’s story needed to be shared.  There are people (not just plus size women) who need to read this.  Trials, triumph, courage and love for other; all things that make Elise Micomyiza……… PHAT GIRL FRESH

My name is Elise Micomyiza born 24 may 1990 in Africa in a small country Rwanda which is in central Africa and known for the 1994 genocide. My dad was a bus driver and owned garage and my mother was a veterinary and a business woman.  I lost my parents/brother and sister during the 1994 war Hutus against Tutsi...I was the only survivor in my family.  After the genocide I lived with my aunt who adopted several children that had the same situation...  Growing up wasn't easy after the war, I had to do everything by myself I never fitted any were even though I was adopted I felt lonely. But I always had a smile and time to make other laugh and be happy. As young I was interested a lot in everything that was entertaining.  at home when my adoptive parents weren't there I was there entertaining visitors making them laugh I always had jokes, my mom always called me to entertain people; neighbors knew me, everyone thought I deserved to work on TV. When I went in high school we moved in Madagascar a big island very beautiful lovely and nice people, 2009 I decided that I had to come here in Canada and fulfill my dreams, I never really knew what I wanted I only knew it would be entertaining whatever I would do...I worked for Rogers in Montreal then moved to Ottawa where I was working for a Canadian designer Nelly.  When I started to work for her I figured that I did want to work in fashion industry I had tried casting for L’Oreal but didn't work out until I applied for the weight is over and I was lucky enough to model at mambo restaurant in Ontario when they organized a fashion show 2013 and met Stephanie the designer of sexy plus who invited me to Toronto a very nice lady down to earth and I was amazed working with her.  So then I decided to register at Richard Robinson where am attending haute couture 3 year diploma to become a designer....in the future am looking forward to become a famous model/designer/actress...I believe life is short, there is a reason I survived and lost my family and the reason why am still here, so I don't live to regret I live to make a difference and to encourage everyone around the world that there is always a reason for everything.  To view more pictures of  Elise Micomyiza click the following link, http://www.phatgirlfresh.com/#!fashionably-fresh/cnec

I can admit, I am a certified girly girl and I love glitter!!! So, you know that I am happy that Urban Decay has decided to relaunch their Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliners.  Maybe I will be able to get my hands on all of them.  

ACDC is described as a “bright purple glitter.” It’s a medium-dark purple glitter with reddish tones.

GUCCI GUCCI GUCCI!!!!!

So not only is rapper Gucci Mane ugly and ignorant but he isn't above kissing and telling either.  This clown recently jumped on twitter and started dropping the names of all the women in the industry he has supposedly bedded.  Oh, he even said that he wouldn't mind giving T.I wife Tiny a piece of the action.  I wonder how Tip and Keyshia Dior(his supposed girlfriend) feel about that......... The tell-all tweets began rolling in after the Atlanta rapper issued a seemingly harmless message about self-perspective.

"Every 1 n the industry has a hidden agenda every person let greed n pride conquer them its sad but I been in jail so much it humbled me"

From there things went strangely off-track. The troublesome rapper began to tweet insults to Jeezy, T.I., 2 Chainz, Drake and oddly Eminem. Nicki Minaj was also among the list of big name stars called out in the rant, but the allegations made against her went deeper than rap.

"Me and waka f--- nikki minaj dats nothing,” read one bombshell tweet.

Gooch went on to boast about his past relationship with Nicki, who at one time lived in Atlanta while being managed by Gucci’s former manager Deb Antney (Waka Flocka’s mom). He addressed Minaj’s previous comments about a need for an intervention to help the oft incarcerated hip hop star.

"Tell. Her intervention my d--k in her throat I moved dat b---h to atl. B---h u sleepin n d car. B---h I pulled dat b—h off wayne bus."

Minaj was hardly the only woman that Gucci made sexually offensive claims about.

"Ask ciara did she ride dat bike 4 gucci in cali while she was with 50 [Cent] ask kelly did she cum to patchwork and onyx while she was wit shaka"

While Notorious B.I.G. may have had dreams of sleeping with an R&B chick back in the day, Gucci Mane claims to be living that dream today. He named Monica, Keyshia Cole and Fantasia among his sexual conquests.

His mention of Monica drew a response and led to an apparent confrontation with the singer’s ex-boyfriend Rocko Da Don.

"IM OUTSIDE YA SPOT RIGHT NOW! WHERE U @? @gucci1017"

Judging from the contrary tweets that followed the incident it's hard to say what happened during the face-to-face meeting.

It was clear, however, that Gucci has a thing for his music peers’ significant others. He alluded to a past intimate relationship with Tyga’s girlfriend (the mother of his son) Black Chyna, while revealing his desire to sleep with T.I.’s wife Tiny.

While Notorious B.I.G. may have had dreams of sleeping with an R&B chick back in the day, Gucci Mane claims to be living that dream today. He named Monica, Keyshia Cole and Fantasia among his sexual conquests.

His mention of Monica drew a response and led to an apparent confrontation with the singer’s ex-boyfriend Rocko Da Don.

Judging from the contrary tweets that followed the incident it's hard to say what happened during the face-to-face meeting.

It was clear, however, that Gucci has a thing for his music peers’ significant others. He alluded to a past intimate relationship with Tyga’s girlfriend (the mother of his son) Black Chyna, while revealing his desire to sleep with T.I.’s wife Tiny.

"I wanna f--k tiny lil ugly a--."

It’s hard to tell what triggered this explicit rambling from Gucci or whether it’s the work of a hacker, but it has been a rather interesting read and is sure to draw a reaction from many.

TAMAR TALKS CONFIDENCE.

Last Tuesday was big for RnB music, with the release of Raheem Devaughn, John Legend, Jahiem and Tamar Braxton new album.  We all know that artist have to work the circuit to increase album sales which is what the baby Braxton girl has been doing.  She recently had a real talk session with some of Necole Bitchie's followers and ended up in tears.  During the QnA session one of the ladies asked Tamar about having confidence and her past abusive relationship.  Tamar fought back tears as she admitted that she hasn't always been the confident diva that we see today.  She stated that she used attitude and fake confidence to hide the fact that she didn't love and believe in herself due to her abuse.  Despite all of her trials, Tamar rose above that situation to become the women that we see today.  However, she says, "that girl still lives" in her and she "work hard daily to keep her hidden."

I posted this to let other women know that confidence starts with you.  It doesn't matter how smart, pretty or successful you are.  Being confident starts with you!!!!! #phatgirlfresh

Hollywood Exe's............ ATLANTA

Ex rappers, Ghetto Mafia told the world years ago, “It is greater in Decatur”.  I am guessing that the statement holds true for Atlanta as a whole because nearly every reality show has an Atlanta spin off.  Hollywood Exe’s is the next show to take a bit out of the juicy peach.  Although the names aren’t etched in stone, there are a host of rumor swirling around as to who will be a part of the cast.  After reading over the names of the women that have been contacted by producers, I can guarantee the show will be a drama filled hit. 

Sheree Buchanan (Ex-wife of former Falcons player Ray Buchanan), Christina Johnson (Ex Wife of Cee-Lo Green), Tameka Foster Raymond (Ex-Wife of Usher Raymond), Kim Elba (Ex-wife of Idris Elba), Monica Ambrose (ex-wife of Ashley Ambrose, a former NFL baller who played for several teams including the Atlanta Falcons) and Monyetta Shaw (Ex Fiancé’ of Ne-Yo).  Although all of the women are not true ATLiens, they are all in Hotlanta doing their thing in some form or another.  I have looked high and low and found pictures and a little back story on the divas to prepare us for the upcoming reality spinoff ATL style.

NOT A DAY GOES BY.......

Seven years ago today, I lost my best friend/sister, Shannette Perkins Elijah.  She was an amazing person and a loving mother.  We had a friendship that began when we were 9 years old and will last eternally.  Our friendship is a great example of many of the things that I speak on all the time.  We didn't always agree on things and there were times when we would argue and/or get mad with one another.  However, we never loved one another any less.  There were periods when we were too busy to talk to each other on a daily basis but when we did it was as if nothing had changed.  There was never a time that she needed me that I didn't come to her aid and vice versa.  We loved one another and no matter what happened we knew that and we always let that guide our friendship.  We had so much fun together, there was never a dull moment and there was never any jealousy or competition.  We never felt indifferent about friends that we obtained along the way because we knew that nothing would ever come between what she and I shared and even in death, this holds true.  I have other friends whom I love with all my heart and consider my sisters but she remains in her special place in my heart.  It is so amazing to me that after 7 years, it still hasn't got any easier.  TO CONTINUE READING, CLICK THE FOLLOWING LINK.  http://www.phatgirlfresh.com/#!fresh-life/cute
